The story follows Bonobo Joe, a fame-hungry space-chimp, and his anxious co-pilot Beanie Orangutang, who crash-land in the African jungle thinking they’ve reached the Red Planet. To fuel their broken rocket, Joe plots to con a peaceful bonobo village out of their sacred talisman, only to find himself defending them from a ruthless band of warmongering River Chimps. It has a high-energy, “squash-and-stretch” slapstick sensibility, reminiscent of the Golden Age of animation.
